5am Hurricane IRENE Update

A hurricane warning is still in effect for Southeastern N.C, including New Hanover, Brunswick and Pender counties, as Irene churns on its predicted path toward the East Coast.

The storm was centered about 344 miles south of Wilmington with winds at 110 mph. The storm was weakened slightly. It is moving at 14 mph.

The center of Irene will pass our area late Friday and into Saturday. We'll start seeing effects beginning today with wind and rain. As the day passes, conditions will deteriorate.
