The town of Carolina Beach, in coordination with the town of Kure Beach and New Hanover County officials, anticipates that the Snows Cut Bridge could close as early as 5 p.m. Friday as tropical-storm-force winds approach the area.
The bridge will be closed when sustained winds reach 45 mph. As conditions worsen, traveling across the Snows Cut Bridge can be extremely dangerous. Once the bridge is closed, it will remain closed until winds subside to less than 45 mph sustained. The exact closing or reopening time is difficult to predict. The town will continue to monitor the sustained wind speeds from a variety of sources and act accordingly. Bridge closure and opening information will be announced through the local media.
Once the bridge is closed, no one will be allowed to cross the bridge until it is reopened. Please plan accordingly. Snows Cut Bridge is the only link to the mainland once conditions deteriorate. For more information, check www.carolinabeach.org or call 458-2999.
